The meaning of love varies from person to person, from experience to experience, from situation to situation. Love is a way to express, to laugh, to be silly, to care, to annoy, to be kiddish; it is a need for some while want for the others and somewhere in between need and love, exists the true love. How different is love from true love? A question that is not easy to answer. Is love about being together and true love about leaving your loved one because they want you to? Is love about caring and showing and true love about caring and not letting them know? Is love about finding a person who is just like you and your type and is true love accepting the person however they are without complaining? However and whichever way you wish to define and differentiate between love and true love, love is about being crazy and stupid together, even when two lovers are apart the invisible togetherness does exist and as Maya Angelou said, "In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world, there is no love for you like mine."
I recently read My Last Love Story, a book by author Falguni Kothari on love. The book is about the love between three people, but only two at a time and is not a love triangle, already confused? Just like love! Continue reading to know more. The book is also about the desires in love, the rarely conditional and mostly unconditional love, the decisive thoughts and the bridge between need and want of love. It is a romance narrative involving the humans, their nature and the manifold questions of love being right or wrong. When you start reading the book, the title will make you curious to know who's last love story it is, and the answer of the same will be found only when the story ends. Below is the compelling book cover, since I have read the book, I know the relevance of the cover design.
The story revolves around three friends, namely, Simeen, Nirvaan and Zayaan and is set in the United States of America. Simeen and Nirvaan are married, Simeen used to like Zayaan long back, Nirvaan and Zayaan are besties and that's how they are related to each other. Nirvaan is diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment and since he is sure of his exit from this material world very soon, he wants to make sure that Simeen's life is on track and shouldn't be derailed in his absence. Simeen had promised Nirvaan to have a child only if he continues his treatment, but at the bottom of her mind and heart she didn't want the child. Zayaan has joined Nirvaan and Simeen following the role of a best buddy and is always by Nirvaan's side in completing his Titanic Wishlist. Apart from this, the regular family problems existed as Nirvaan was from a typical Gujju family while Simeen wasn't from one and had Parsi genes. In between all these, the story continues in the search of a happy ending, but does it reach there? The book has the answer.
It's a very unconventional story yet appears very real when you read. The narration represents the troubles, disorders and mental disturbances that the characters go through and their attempt to keep these problems at bay and take all the important and difficult decisions. The book was like an expression, every single character was expressive and it appeared that if they are telling their own tale but there is a connection between all of them. At regular intervals, you will find wit in the narration and the language used is catchy too with interesting and amazing phrases coupled with quotes from Rumi at regular intervals.
Overall, My Last Love Story, is an emotional account of all their life with dominant characterization and clarity in their thoughts. Other than love and friendship, emotions and feelings like hatred, sacrifice, loss, misfortune are depicted as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who would want to read an emotional love fiction.
