-- Interview with author Dr. Ajay Yadav --

Q: How does it feel holding the published copy of your book, “From Where I See”?
A: It’s really great to see your book published and been liked by so many readers. For me it’s not only a book, it’s a dream for setting a utopian world. At least now I have a platform to spread my message.

Q: How was your experience of getting “From Where I See” published?
A: Honestly speaking, a difficult journey and that’s not only applicable to me; every debutant author has to struggle and the struggle becomes more difficult if you write something away from league.

Q: Does writing help you in your daily life? How does it help?
A: Yes, it never keep you idle. Moreover it gives strength to your ideas.

Q: You became a writer by chance, something inspired you to take up writing or you always wanted to be a writer?
A: Since my childhood I had been an analytical thinker. I observed that there are always two sides of the curtain; our fears, prejudices, fixed notions and attitude of accepting what’s served as platter does not let us peep on that side often letting the winners to manipulate the historical facts. Injustice, human exploitation, dishonesty and lawlessness had never been tolerable to me. Nothing has grieved me more than hatred towards each other. Why at every level, whether it’s intrapersonal, interpersonal, inter-social, inter-religious or inter-country we are conflicted? I started to think; finding the cause for these conflicts became my passion. I started to dream of a society free of these conflicts, an honest utopian society. There are 2 types of people in this world. First, who are sensitive to their own needs and own desires; their life revolves around ‘me’ only. Second, who are sensitive to the needs of others; their concern is ‘we’, we as a society, as a country, as a world and most importantly as humans. Unfortunately! I belong to the second category. This sensitivity, desire to show the other side of curtain and desire to change the world to establish utopian society were the motivating factors for me to take such a bold decision. There is no weapon stronger than a pen in bringing revolution so I decided to pen down.

Q: How did you finalize the cover of the book? Did you have more options?
A: We searched many options. Few of them were shortlisted and then this was the one which was approved by all my family members, editor and publisher.

Q: Other than writing, what else do you do professionally?
A: Too many things! I am heading anesthesia, critical care and pain management department at my hospital. I am also teaching at Institute of advanced medical studies, a premier MD/MS entrance coaching institute where three times I have been awarded as best teaching faculty.

Q: Apart from “From Where I See”, have you written anything else? What can we expect from you in the near future?
A: My text book of anesthesia is one of the largest selling book in India, Southeast Asia and Africa. Right now I am focusing on another medical book and after that literature book but of course, this time a lighter one!!

Q: How did you develop the characters of the story?
A: Just by fiction.

Q: Is the story of “From Where I See” inspired from real life events or is it completely fictional?
A: Complete fiction does not exist in this world (except for sci-fi). Stories are always inspired by real life characters.

Q: Your book has a message, which should reach out to maximum people who are interested in understanding the topics discussed, do you think it will change the way people think, will you be able achieve your objective of spreading that message?
A: This is where true principle of Gita applies. I have done my job, it’s the readers call now but I am 100% sure, yes some albeit few, who are thinkers will definitely change their thought process. In fact I am seeing the results by getting some strong reviews.

Q: Tell us something about the research that you have put in to write the book, “From Where I See”?
A: There are more than 30 reputed books (references given at the end of book) I read before writing this book. So simply you can say that this is research of 3 years.

Q: Was there a specific reason that you made “religion” a part of the story?
A: I feel that religion is the most misinterpreted thing in this world. From ages people have misused religions for their vested interests. Moreover due to our fears we don’t dare to challenge any wrong thing related to religion. So I choose religion as a topic so that at least I can remove some misconceptions from the people mind.

Q: How much time did you take to complete the book, did you ever face a writer’s block? How did you come out of it?
A: More than a year. Every writer faces writer’s block. The best way to overcome is like a difficult math’s problem; give it some time and start afresh.

Q: If “From Where I See” is made into a Bollywood movie, which actors/actresses would you want to be a part of it?
A: May be someone among KK Menon, Rahul Bose, Jimmy shergill,  Abhay deol, Radhika apte, Kangana Ranaut.

Q: Do you read as much as you write? Which are your favorite books and authors?
A: Yes. My favorite books are freedom at midnight, Da Vinchi code, No God but God and so on… the list is really long. Needless to say the author of the mentioned books are my favorite authors.

Q: You prefer reading e-books or the traditional paper/hard back book?
A: Traditional paper backs.

Q: Two things that you like and dislike about “Religion”?
A: The worst thing about religion that I dislike is that it divide the people and creates animosity among them which even leads to mass killings. The best thing about religion is that it gives principles which if followed genuinely (but unfortunately that’s the most neglected part of religion) can make this world a real utopian world.

Q: If you have to give one reason to our readers to get hold of your book, “From Where I See”, what would the reason be?
A: If you have dream of a utopian world and a desire to change the world then I feel that this is one a book you should never miss.

Q: Any message you would want to share with our readers?
A: If you have liked the book and agree with me then please propagate because we all have to put a joint effort to build a road towards the utopian world.

Q: How can our readers connect with you?
A: My email is – dryadavajay@rediffmail.com.
